Senecaland is one of sixteen
districts of the
Barbershop Harmony Society, formally known as the Society
for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barbershop Quartet Singing in
America, Inc. (SPEBSQSA, Inc.) The Society started in Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1938 O. C. Cash and Rupert Hall, met by chance at the Hotel Muehlebach,
found two other singers to comprise a quartet, and the rest is history. Seneca Land District is composed of 34 chapters (Google Map of Chapters) and approximately 60 registered quartets that perform in our district as well as throughout this country and around the world. Although one of the smallest districts in the society, Seneca Land has contributed an International Champion Quartet, the Buffalo Bills, and five Society Presidents, Phil Embury, S. Wayne Foor, James Steedman, Plummer F. Collins, and Rob Hopkins.
